Course Description

Comparative effectiveness research (CER) is the “real-world” comparison of new therapies with existing standards of care in order to identify the most effective practices for typical patient care settings. CER is being adopted more widely than ever as a model for U.S. healthcare. CER presents opportunities as well as challenges for biopharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers. This web seminar will address the role of CER in the product lifecycle, describe its evolving methodologies and standards, and focus on planning and development of comparative effectiveness studies to demonstrate product value in an increasingly value-driven U.S. healthcare system.
