Dear Colleague:
I am pleased to announce production of CHI’s and the BioPharma Strategy Series’ seventh annual Portfolio Management executive forum being held November 6-7, 2012 at the Hyatt Regency Philadelphia in Philadelphia, PA.
Each year the Portfolio Management conference attracts over 120 participants who help lead their organizations’ commercial, resource and portfolio management strategies. Our 2012 meeting will build on last year's successful event with novel case studies and perspectives from thought leaders. Key issues to be addressed include:
Effectively determining, measuring and managing a diversified portfolio
New approaches to prioritizing and rank-ordering portfolio projects
Achieving more effective and real-time portfolio management and resource allocation
Use of Multi-Objective Analysis in portfolio management of early stage projects
Balancing internal R&D investments and resources with external collaborations
Understanding the impact of partnerships and co-development deals on resource and portfolio management
Overcoming organizational challenges to maximize value and balance risks
Tested methods to improve pharma’s agility and flexibility resulting in higher levels of innovation and speed
Learning from the gaps/differences between your projected portfolio and the reality/outcomes
Creating a governance body and corporate structure to enable agile decision making
Enabling pharma to translate lessons learned from other industries
Training project teams to provide appropriate information (strategic alternatives, risk, assumptions, etc.) for executives to evaluate in decision making
We are looking for new case studies from pharma, biotech, medical device and sister industries. Companies with mature and immature portfolios and with varying approaches and systems for resource management are encouraged to share specific lessons with this enthusiastic community. If you are interested in presenting, click here to submit a proposal for review.
The deadline for submissions is April 20, 2012
Please note that priority for submissions will be given to those from within large and small pharmaceutical, biotech and medical device companies, as well as those with pertinent case studies from major oil & gas, defense, aerospace, IT, and telecom companies. Additionally, as per CHI policy, a select number of vendors/consultants who provide products and services to these biopharmaceutical companies are offered opportunities for podium presentation slots based on a variety of Corporate Sponsorships.
Again this year, we will be running the meeting back to back with the tenth annual Strategic Resource Management meeting, taking place November 5-6. Both meetings will come together for a plenary session on the afternoon of November 6th creating a three-day event covering the topics most important to you. In addition, two optional short courses will be offered: a Pre-Conference Short Course on Tuesday morning and a Dinner Short Course on Wednesday evening.
Please review the past program from November 2011. I welcome your feedback, preferred topics, and speaker referrals as we shape the 2012 program. Please share your feedback and speaker suggestions with us at this time and do join us in Philadelphia in November.
Very sincerely,
Micah Lieberman
